Speech Therapy
Speech Therapy is available at Cornerstone for infants, children, and adults for evaluation, consultation, and treatment of communication and swallowing difficulties. Speech Therapy is designed to help individuals improve listening, speaking, reading, writing, thinking, and swallowing skills for optimal level of functioning.
Speech Language Pathologists (Speech Therapists) are professionals educated in the study of human communication as well as the basic acts of eating and swallowing, and their respective developments and disorders. Speech therapists hold a Master's Degree, are licensed by the state, and have a Certificate of Clinical Competence awarded by the ASHA.
The goal of speech therapy is to provide specialized services for, but not limited to, the following:
- Speech disorders.
- Childhood language delays and disorders.
- Swallowing difficulties in adults and children.
- Fluency disorders (stuttering).
- Voice impairments.
- Infant feeding problems.
- Speech and language deficits associated with stroke, head injury, or other illnesses.
- Cognitive and memory impairments.
- Counseling for reflux (GERD).
- Foreign and regional accent reduction.
